During 2013~2014, LNG shipping rates might take a hit with newbuilding delivery flood, DVB Bank says.
Researchers at the bank expect utilization to slip below 90% in both 2013 and 2014.
“Fleet growth remains a threat and is likely to impact fleet utilization in a visible way post 2013,” DVB said.
According to DVB, 20 newbuildings are set to be added to the fleet in 2013, adding to the 371 vessels on the water today.
A further 32 newbuildings are already scheduled for delivery in 2014 with some yard slots still remaining for delivery in the year.
