Korean Ship Export Falls 47%
Despite global economic slump, Korea's overall export increased in November, two months in a row.
Exports of IT products, such as wireless mobile device, etc., grew, while major export items, for instance, ship, etc., saw a keen depression.
According to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, total amount of export for November increased by 3.9% year-on-year to $47.8bn, the highest amount ever this year.
Wireless mobile device (25.3%), computer (18.5%), steel product (15.3%), semiconductor (12.9%), automobile component (11.3%) and petroleum product (10.1), etc., saw double-digit growths.
On the contrary, ship (-47.4%) and general machinery (-1.9%) have consistently declined.
Shipbuilding player said "Aggravating shipping market and shrinking European financial market amid delayed economic recovery lead to depressed shipbuilding market."
Also, fleet overcapacity is one of major reasons that push shipbuilding industries into a corner.
