In order to enhance strengths in Eco-design ship and offshore plant segments, Korean government should support for troubled shipbuilding industries.
PhD Bae Yong-Il of Samsung Economic Research Institute revealed "Korean government should strongly support R&D, so that Korea becomes 'First Mover' in shipbuilding and offshore industries through Green, SMART, convergence and integration," during a forum supervised by the Korea Shipbuilders' Association today.
Mr Bae has made proposals to localize engineering technology and equipment, develop new product which integrates shipbuilding and offshore and to enter into subsea market, etc.
Also, Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology's PhD Ban Suk-Ho highlighted "State-owned technology development program, which expands focus on manufacturing into design and engineering, is necessary."
