Dalian Shipping Ocean Company has recently signed a newbuilding contract with CSSC for the construction of 2+2 VLCCs. The VLCC pair will be built at Guangzhou International Shipbuilding and are scheduled for delivery by 2014 and 2015.
The detailed contract value has not been disclosed. However, it is estimated that the price is about $82.0m to $85.0m apiece, which demonstrates that VLCC newbuilding price has come to a new low.
Last April, Jinhai Heavy Industry won a pair of VLCCs from Gulf Navigation at the price of $100.0m apiece.
