P/F Thor, Hósvík, Faroe Islands, has signed an agreement for the construction of four new seismic support vessels with an option of additonal four.
Upon delivery, all four units will start a long term charter with the seismic company Petroleum Geo Services (PGS). The vessels of type ST-204 have been designed by Skipteknisk in Ålesund in close collaboration with Thor. The financing is said to be obtained in cooperation with RS Platou Finans in Oslo. They will be classified with the ice class A1 and equipped with the latest technology. The new 64m long and 14.5m wide seismic ships will be built at Turkish shipyard Besiktas.
