China's Yangzijiang Offshore Engineering has clinched its first offshore rig order.
The company secured a $200m contract from Qatar Investment Corporation to build a jack-up drilling rig at its offshore yard in Taicang city of Jiangsu province.
The yard is reportedly to sign a formal contract with QIC next week in China.
The newbuilding project will be completed within 30 months after steel cutting.
The rig will be built to the LeTourneau Super 116E design. Drilling equipment will be supplied by Cameron while ABS classing the unit.
