According to the Alphaliner, Korean owner Sinokor Merchant Marine has recently purchased four elder boxships from a Germany owner at the market downturn, including two 17 to 18 years old 1,512TEU units and two 15-year 1,608TEU units.
The prices are said to close to scrapping prices at about $3.00m apiece. Sinokor has purchased 16 similar elder ships at the begging of this year. The ships have been stayed idle in chartering market recently.
