Global shipbuilding market, which has been in the doldrums for some time, will not recover until the second half of 2013.
Market sources prospected that commercial ship sector is unlikely to upturn in the end of this year. Due to plummeted newbuilding orders seen from boxship, bulker and tanker segments, global new order contracted in 2012 is estimated to be as same as those contracted in 2009, around 33m gt, or lower than that.
Although some segments, such as LNG carrier, containership, etc., will see orders rebound in earlier 2013, overall commercial ship new order is expected to resume after the second half of the next year.
