Enquiries for 5,000dwt bulkers are still active, however transactions are rare due to buyer’s high expectation for low ship price. 10,000dwt – 20,000dwt bulkers’ demand see further weakness with buyer and seller’s willingness to purchase or dispose ships both decline. At the same time, current 20.000dwt and bigger bulker owners are willing to lower the price to sell ships at hand with market demand continue to be weak.
In the period, a three-year 5,000dwt ZC-classed bulker is sold at a price of CNY13.0m. Another three-year 20,000dwt ZC-classed bulker is revealed to be changed hand at about CNY40.0m.
Secondhand index for five-year 5,000dwt bulker rises mildly in the period due to increase in market demand. Insiders point out that current price has bottomed out till now. Assessment for three-year 165,000dwt and 225,000dwt bulker both drop further, which makes current owner feel more pressure.
Transaction activities of secondhand tanker stay plain in the period with crude oil price keeps falling. Demand for 2000dwt – 3,000dwt tankers and 4,000dwt – 5,000dwt tankers product oil tanker all declines, especially for Grade III tanker with heating equipment. Newbuilding prices and secondhand assessments continue the downturn.
A 2011-built 960dwt DH tanker with heating equipment is reported to be sold at a price of CNY4.1m. Another eight-year Grade I 3,300dwt tanker is transacted at about CNY11.0m. Besides, it is rumored that a newbuilt 4,000dwt product oil tanker has been resold at CNY23.0m.
With oil shipping market stay depressed and more tanker delivered, indices for secondhand tankers all see decline. Besides, single-hull tankers are further eliminated.
The demand for small containership and MPVs has kept strong. Some brokers are looking for 3000TEU containership for international services.
On the contrary, enquiries for tugs and deck barges remain sluggish and most enquiries are from brokers. A broker is trying to buy a suction dredger of 3,000 CBM for international services.
