Investment for newbuilding commercial ship will grow fast from 2013, attracted by fuel-efficiency.
Park Mu-Hyun, analyst of E*Trade Securities in Korea, emphasized that 'Fuel efficiency' is the key to forecast future investment activity and said "With wide-spread small-and-medium sized vessels in the shipping market, their values are falling ever so fast."
Park pointed out that more charterers, shipowners, ship brokers, ship financing institutions and shipping companies are demanding to improve fuel efficiency.
He said "Investment in eco-design ships will increase rapidly, as EEDI is applied and operating green ships proves their efficiency."
