Greek shipowners' newbuilding orders have plummeted 32% in the first nine months of 2012, compared to the same period of last year.
According Golden Destiny, global newbuilding contracts had fallen by 20% this year, implying that Greek owners' orders had decreased more abruptly than the industry average.
Greek owners have placed 97 new ship orders by end-September, compared with 142 during the same period of 2011.
Investment has also decreased to around $3.8bn, from last year's $8bn.
Particularly Greeks' LNG carrier order declined from 21 to 7 this year.
Containership orders booked by Greeks fell from 46 units to 20 in the same time frame.
