Which is better, to order eco-design newbuildings or to buy modern secondhand vessels?
Regarding this question, containership owner John Coustas recently insisted that shipowners would make better returns if they choose secondhand tonnage.
“At present we do not need new ships,” he said in Athens. “Why go and build a new vessel when the market returns for secondhand vessels are so much higher?” 
Mr Coustas, chairman of Danaos, said that owners had been overwhelmed by information from shipyards, but this was “mainly a sales pitch”.
