Recently, Zhejiang Yangfan Group has signed a newbuilding contract for the construction of eight 2,300TEU boxships with German owner Bernhard Schulte and JP Morgan. The contract includes four optional units.
The contract price is estimated to be $26.5m apiece. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered from the second half of 2014 to the second half of 2015.
It is reported this is the second time Bernhard Schulte and JP Morgan joint hands to order new vessels. In this June, they have order five 5,100TEU containership at Hanjin Heavy Industry at a cost of $225.0m, which also includes another five optional units. Bernhard Schulte is said to be the owner as well as the ship manager.
