Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has signed additional contract for two eco MR tankers with D'Amica International Shipping of Italy.
The 50,000-dwt products carriers with designs of the highest fuel efficiency are costing $33m each with delivery slated for early 2014, the shipowner confirmed.
These eco-friendly vessels will save between 6 and 7 tonnes of bunkers per day compared to the average of the world MR fleet.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mipo had been placed an order for two 40,000-dwt MR tankers, valued in $30.65 apiece, with two options, by d'Amico's subsidiary d'Amico Tankers in July of this year. Vessels scheduled to be delivered in early 2014.
