A total of 19 member shipyards from the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan (SAJ) saw their overall turnover for shipbuilding segment for the Fiscal Year of 2011 declined by 2% year-on-year to JPY 2.3221trn ($29.8bn).
Sales of Japanese shipbuilding industries has decreased over the two consecutive years.
Newbuilding and ship repair/conversion segments all fell down revenue by 2% each to JPY 2.2151trn and JPY 107bn.
Having recorded JPY 1.3trn in the late 1990s, Japanese shipyards marked the highest record of JPY 2.6608trn in 2009 amid growing delivery and shipbuilding prices.
