Shipbuilding industries is prospected to fill up schedules with large-size boxship, which is applied newly developed technology.
Analyst Huh Sung-Duk of Hi Investment & Securities said "Containership sees relatively huge decreases in newbuilding prices, which will be an opportunity for ship owners planning tonnage expansion."
Huh said "Particularly, Korean shipyards are urgently in need of new orders for large containership as their orderbooks have been diminished by troubled commercial ship market" and forecast "Big3 shipbuilders will work hard to win large boxships."
He added "Due to continued high oil price, Korean shipyards would be better to hold a superior place with fuel-efficient vessels, applied with their new technology."
