Sasebo Heavy Industries of Japan has been placed an order for an eco-type panamax bulker from Greek owner DST Shipping.
The panamax is slated for delivery in September 2013, but DST has not revealed the price tag on the deal.
According to Stavros Tsolakis, the company's vice-president, the vessel will be installed with a B&W electronic main engine with fresh water central cooling system and well well documented fuel savings and one of the lowest fuel consumptions and EEDI in the market.
The vessel will also be equipped with other eco features such as a ballast water treatment system, eco-friendly low friction paints, environmental safety management class notation and a green passport.
