Korean power generation utility companies will have a Workshop with domestic shipping companies on September 13 and will give public notice of a bid for newbuilding/chartering contracts of seven 150,000-dwt bulkers.
Sources said that it is highly possible that consortium composed of domestic shipping and shipbuilding industries will participate the tender.
GENCO Cooperation Service, organized with Korea South East Power, Korea Midland Power, Korea Western Power, Korea Southern Power and Korea East-West Power, is now in review of consortium-based bid.
GENCO is proceeding joint bidding, in order to support both shipping and shipbuilding industries in Korea and to have benefits from economy of scale through joint newbuilding investment.
