On September 4, Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding gained a newbuilding contract for six 8,500dwt multi-purpose vessels from a Swiss owner.
The newbuilds measure 122.20m in length, 19.80m in width, 11.00m in depth, 7.20m in draft and 14 knots in speed. GL is to class the new vessels.
The 8,5000dwt MPV has made great improvements in safety and energy-efficiency and will adopt new regulations of IMO. The ship realizes reduction of oil consumption by improving ship lines and propulsion system.
Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding now holds ten vessels on its orderbook and has successfully delivered nine vessels in 2012.
