Norway's Hoegh LNG has won a floating LNG import terminal (LNG-FSRU) project in Chile.
The Oslo-listed company announced Monday that it had been selected as the “preferred bidder” for the Quintero Bay project.
It has beaten off competition from Excelerate Energy and Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines.
The contract is due to start in late 2014 and is for ten years plus options for a further five years.
The LNG-FSRU for this project is already under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries.
Chilean electricity generator Colbun is seeking an LNG-FSRU of between 150,000-cbm and 170,000-cbm in partnership with AES Gener SA.
