Awilco LNG has been tipped wait for stronger contracts for its newbuildings.
Anders Wilhelmsen-backed Awilco is expected to hold out on fixing its two vessels under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, with delivery due in 2013.
According to DNB Markets, “The backwardation of the LNG carrier segment is still strong," added, "We believe Awilco LNG will hold out as long as they need to secure attractive rates – hence we argue this will be a waiting game the next six months.”
Meanwhile, John Fredriksen's Golar said it was holding out for stronger contracts on its 11 LNG carrier newbuildings.
