Daewoo-Paenal Net Platforms
Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Angola-based PAENAL have secured a contract from oil major Chevron to build five fixed oil production and processing platforms.
The offshore platforms will be used for work offshore the Mafumeria Sul project, Angola.
DSME's share of the contract award is around $2bn, while PAENAL's share is undisclosed.
These are oil production and processing platforms with no drilling capabilities.
The first will be used as a production processing platform, the second will be used as a living quarters platform, while the third and fourth will be used as remote well-head platforms. The fifth platform will be used as a flare platform, a yard official explained.
Meanwhile, PAENAL is a joint venture with effective shareholding of Sonangol (40%), SBM Offshore (30%) and DSME (30%).
