Newbuilding price for a standard LNG carrier has fallen below $190m from around $200m earlier this year.
Some brokers even forecast the prices could slip under $180m early next year.
Industry players say prices are starting to fall as new orders decrease on last year with the contracting pattern changing from speculative order to project-based business.
During 2011, speculative newbuilding contracts for LNG carriers boosted annual new orders to 50.
But Clarksons data show new orders for just 17 LNG carrier newbuildings have been inked year-to-date.
