The Typhoon in the southeast coastal areas has hindered coal shipping in the period and kept the coastal dry bulk shipping relatively stable.
In the transaction activities of secondhand bulkers, demand and transactions of 5,000dwt bulk carriers reduced recently while more buyers eyes 15,000dwt bulkers. Besides, some owners are looking for 20,000dwt bulkers, but the sales information is too limited at present. A buyer from Hainan Province is looking for 1,000dwt or smaller cargo ships for hauling coral.
It is reported a 2009-blt 5,000dwt bulker was traded at about CNY7.50m and a 20,000 ZC-classed bulker were transferred at about CNY50.00m. Besides, a three-year 13,000dwt bulker and a four-year 13,500dwt one were both changed hands at about CNY17.00m.
The secondhand price index for 5,000dwt bulkers has stopped declining in the period and is possibly in a stage of bottom balancing. On the contrary, index for three-year 22,500dwt bulkers saw greater decrease with this ship type stepping into the elimination cycle.
The negative stories go on in oil shipping market, the freight rates on some routes continue to fall with the overcapacity issue becoming increasingly prominent.
In S&P market, enquiries for 1,000dwt dirty tankers are active and the quoted prices are about CNY4.40m to CNY4.80m. Besides, a buyer is looking for 4,500dwt new-built product oil tankers at an offer of CNY28.00m.
According to a domestic broker, the current assessment for new-built 8,600dwt and 8,200dwt product oil tankers are separately about CNY46.00m and CNY44.00m. While by the end of last year, the price for similar 8,000dwt tanker is about CNY48.00m.
Insiders point out that the capacity for new-built 4,500dwt and 8,000dwt tankers are on continuing rise currently, as a result tanker owners are facing growing pressures. It is a good chance for owner to make adjustments for sustainable profits.
In secondhand containership market, some buyers are looking for 300TEU boxship or MPV whose tonnage is about 5,000dwt.
Deck barges are still the hot ship type in secondhand offshore plants market for South Sea and some domestic ports development’s demand for the ships is relatively strong. Enquiries for high-power AHTS also begin to increase recently.
In the period, the newbuilding and demolition market are relatively plain.
