Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry has successfully secured a newbuilding order for the construction of two 64,000dwt bulk carriers from Greek owner Laskaridis recently. It is the second contract after the owner ordered seven 75,200dwt Panamax bulkers at the shipyard at a cost of $23.0m apiece.
The 64,000 bulker is designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SADRI) and is well known for its energy-efficient and eco-friendly. Penglai is to make the 64,000dwt bulker another brand product after the 75,200dwt Panamax bulker.
