Oilfield services player KCA Deutag has snared a contract with Statoil to perform front-end engineering and design for a fixed drilling rig to be used on the operator’s Peregrino 2 project off Brazil.
Work will start immediately on the contract, awarded to the contractor’s engineering division RDS, for drilling, maintenance and support on seven Statoil rigs off Norway.
No value was disclosed for the contract.
“Strategically this is an important contract win for KCA Deutag as it strengthens our position in the Brazilian market, where we have already delivered a number of engineering studies for major local contractors," said RDS’ Greenfield business manager John Thorman.
