China's large state-owned shipbuilders are expecting to win massive orders for VLCCs from compatriot shipowners.
Sources said that state-owned shipowners in China plans huge VLCC newbuilding program over mid-to-long term, ten to dozens of newbuildings to transport oil for domestic demand.
Also, there are rumors that the Chinese government provides subsidies to state-owned shipyards in securing newbuildings.
However, these VLCC newbuildings seem to cost merely to maintain yard operation and offer jobs.
