The Japanese owner has sent the 172,900 Shagang Sunrise (built 1997) and the 151,300-dwt Stellar Fortune (built 1995) to be sliced up in China.
According to cash buyer GMS the Shagang Sunrise is the youngest capesize bulker.
“And at just 15 years of age, it could be a sign of things to come,” its weekly report said.
Both of the vessels are said to have fetched $355 per ldt, meaning a $15.06m cheque for NYK.
