Yang Ming Marine Transport plans to place an order for five 14,000-teu ultra-large containerships through an international tender by the end of this year.
Yang Ming said that the timing has not been decided yet, but it will book newbuilding quintet when the market recovers.
Financing for these vessels has undecided, as well. However, the Taiwanese owner plans to raise around $T8bn ($267.9m) from sales of convertible bonds to build working capital, the first tranche of $T5.8m has been already issued.
