Baltic Exchange’s assessment for five-year 172,000dwt Capesize bulker has decreased to $33.9m by June 12, already near the historical low of $33.4m in 2003.
The values for different bulkers have all seen declines due to weak transaction activities. It is reported that the 147,000dwt “Road Runner” (1993 blt) was auctioned off at only $9.55m, little higher than the scrapping value.
According to Clarkson, the 1998-blt, 7700dwt Panamax bulker “Energy Angel” was put for sale and a Greek buyer offered $12.5m which is much lower than the assessment of $13.7m.
It is revealed that NYK was to sell its 1997-blt, 31800dwt “Susaki Wing” at about $7.0-7.6m. However, the previous similar transaction of the 1998-blt, 27800dwt “Atlantic King” was concluded at $8.5m.
