Taiwanese boxship owner Wan Hai Lines has returned to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding with orders for eight containerships worth up to $980m.

Two stock exchange filings show the Taipei-headquartered carrier has contracted one 9，200 teu ship and seven 11，000 teu vessels at the CSSC yard.

The 9，200 teu unit， specified as methanol dual-fuel ready， is priced between $102m and $112m. The seven larger ships will be both methanol- and LNG-dual-fuel ready and carry price tags of $118m to $124m each.

Across the two contracts， Wan Hai will spend between $928m and $980m. The prices include equipment upgrades.

The latest orders build on Wan Hai’s growing relationship with Waigaoqiao. In March， the carrier booked two 9，200 teu methanol-ready ships at the yard for between $204m and $224m.

That deal formed part of a six-ship ordering round that also saw Wan Hai contract four 6，000 teu LNG dual-fuel newbuilds at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding. At the time， the carrier had more than 40 vessels on order across yards in China， Taiwan and South Korea.
