Chinese owner Zhejiang Shipping Group has signed up for two ultramax bulk carriers at New Dayang Shipbuilding.

The contract is worth RMB519.6m ($77m), or about $38.5m per 64,000 dwt vessel, according to the result of a public tender launched by the owner’s parent, Zhejiang Provincial Transportation Investment Group.

The two conventionally fueled ships will be built for international trading, with delivery expected by the end of March and June 2030, respectively.

New Dayang, part of Sumec Marine, has delivered more than 160 vessels from the Crown 63 series, with the yard’s production schedule now stretching into 2030. The Yangzhou-based builder has picked up more than 10 bulker orders this year, covering ships ranging from 63,500 dwt ultramaxes to 82,000 dwt kamsarmaxes.

It is reported last month that Jinhui Shipping had returned to New Dayang for another pair of 64,100 dwt ultramaxes.
