Estonia’s Amisco is expanding its fleet with an order for two multipurpose dry cargo vessels in China.

The Tallinn-based owner said it has contracted Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry to build a pair of 5,900 dwt ships, with deliveries scheduled for the first and second quarters of 2027.

Steel cutting for the first vessel took place in February, marking the formal start of the project.

Amisco said the newbuildings are designed to carry a wide range of cargoes while offering improved fuel efficiency and operational reliability and that the investment forms part of the company’s ongoing fleet renewal programme and long-term growth plans.

Founded in 1994, Amisco is privately owned, with its shareholders actively involved in the business and its fleet currently numbers eight vessels, according to the company’s website. Alongside its Tallinn headquarters, Amisco also operates Amisco Ship Management in Portugal, maintaining close ties with the flag state.
