The Kent-based Foresight Group is planning to place an order for six bulker carriers in China, Ravi Mehrotra, president of the group says recently. Mehrotra reveals that the company is in negotiations with a Chinese shipyard for the construction of two 80,000dwt Panamax bulkers and four 57,00d0wt Handymax bulkers.
The Chinese shipyard has offers prices for the Panamax and Handymax at about $28m and $24m. However, Mehrotra says that Foresight is likely to wait for a while to see if the newbuilding price will decline further. He expects the price to fall by $4.0m in near future.
