While Greek owner Soloi Inc is in consideration of placing newbuilding pair, sources see that CSC Jinling Shipyard of China is possibly to book new order.
Some sources say the company has already signed a letter of intent with CSC Jinling Shipyard. But Soloi senior executive Johnny Kalimeris confirms it is in “exploratory talks” for two kamsarmax newbuildings, saying that a decision has not been finalized.
Also, Kalimeris said that Soloi visited Jiangnan Shipyard and CSC Jinling to discuss its newbuilding deal.
“Should Soloi firm up its newbuilding plan, it is likely to take delivery of the ships only from late 2013,” said a market source. No prices have been disclosed.
Soloi is already familiar with Jinling. The Greek owner’s four 57,000-dwt supramax bulkers were all built by the Chinese yard.
