Yangzijiang Shipbuilding recently announces that US Seaspan is to confirm the construction of 18 optional ULCSs at the shipyard.
Last July, Seaspan put an order for 7+18 ultra large container ships (ULCS) at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and the owner has just confirmed the optional units. Analysts think that Seaspan is likely to formally execute the ordered by the last half of the year and the total value is about $1.8bn.
It is reported that China Development Bank is to offer financing support to Seaspan.
With this order confirmed, Yangzijiang will realize total new order value of $2.5bn.
