Belgian bulker owner Bocimar has put pen to paper on a deal to pick up a pair of capesize newbuildings under construction at Jinhai Heavy Industry (former Zhoushan Jinhaiwan Shipyard) in China.
Parent Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) says the 176,000-dwt vessels will be named Mineral Hope and Mineral Faith when they hit the water in June of this year.
In a note to investors, the company said the transaction was sealed on “very competitive terms”.
The newbuildings, which were originally ordered by troubled Chinese operator Grand China Logistics, are believed to have fetched around $36.5m apiece.
