South Korea’s SPP Shipbuilding is said to have bagged orders for two medium-range (MR) products tankers from Japan’s Maruta Industries.
Market players say SPP has won an order for the pair of 51,000-dwt newbuildings for delivery in the first quarter of 2014 from the Ehime-based tonnage provider, which is also known as ShenLong Maritime.
It is said to be paying around $34m each for the tankers.
Meanwhile, SPP is also known to be in close negotiations for resale of its newbuilding panamax bulker with Greek buyers.
The 81,000-dwt bulker is due for delivery this year and the price range is said to be around $27m to $27.5m.
The newbuilding seems to be one of the pair newly ordered by SeaTask but canceled after.
