LNG-fueled/Dual-fueled Vessels to Prevail
With energy-saving regulations and policies growing more and more strict all through the world, demand of LNG as an alternative environment-friendly fuel has seen significant rise recently. LNG-fueled and dual-fueled vessels are predicted to become the future star in shipping industry.
Hu Keyi, the chief engineer of Jiangnan Shipyard has call for domestic shipyards to enhance R&D in LNG-fueled and dual-fueled vessels considering the latent market profits.
Hu thinks that LNG is of great potential as an alternative energy globally. Experts estimate the LNG-fueled ships will increase from 100 to 800 or even 1000 vessels by 2015. Besides, according to IMO regulations, the sulfur oxide emission in some ECA areas is supposed to be below 0.1% by 2015, which will further push LNG’s employment.
