Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) of South Korea has contracted one 37,700-dwt newbuilding bulker with Korean owner, for delivery in the third quarter 2013.
The newbuilding price is unrevealed.
With the recent order, HMD seems to have exceeded overall $600m of new order year-to-date. It has been successfully sealing new deals mainly for newbuilding PCs, LPG carriers, offshore support vessels.
Including $700m-some optional newbuildings, the South Korean shipbuilder is estimated to have secured about a total of $1.3bn.
Therefore, its order for the first half this year would match 2011's overall $1.8bn.
