Schoeller Holdings has returned to China’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding with an order for a pair of 1,900 teu containerships. The Cyprus-based owner is paying between $31m and $32m per vessel, with deliveries scheduled for 2028.

The deal continues a long-standing relationship between Schoeller and the Guangzhou-based yard, which has delivered nearly 30 vessels to the owner over the past two decades. The partnership has included a range of ship types, including series of boxships, heavylift units, and offshore vessels such as CSOVs.

The order comes as interest in smaller feeder containerships continues to grow, and as a number of dry and tanker players look to diversify into the sector. Other recent deals in this segment include Minerva Marine, which has lined up up to eight 1,800 teu vessels at Yangzijiang and Huanghai. That order is structured as two-plus-two at each yard, with prices around $32–33m per vessel.

Meanwhile, Greek dry bulk owner W Marine has also moved to secure 1,800 teu newbuilds, signing a letter of intent with Huanghai for up to four newbuilds. Like the other deals, pricing is understood to be in the low $30m range, with delivery set for 2028.
