Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) contracted three newbuilding 50,000-dwt tankers with options for three more newbuildings included from a Danish Tankers Inc. 
The newbuildings are for delivery in the first half of 2014 and sources suggest they are costing between $33m and $34m each.
Meanwhile, Tankers Inc also has two 75,000-dwt newbuildings under construction at China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry. They were inked last year at a reported $45m each for delivery next year. The deal includes two options that have yet to be exercised.
