BP Shipping has gone out to shipyards for up to 14 tanker newbuildings worth some $750m for deliveries in 2014.
BP is understood to be checking out prices and delivery slots for between six to 10 aframaxes and three to four suezmaxes. 
Newbuilding brokers price 115,000-dwt aframaxes at around $50m apiece and suezmaxes at around $60m each.
Yards are due to respond on this business in the next month, with a contract award scheduled for later this year.
