Reviews on Domestic Secondhand S&P Market (2.11-2.24)
The influence of depressed shipping on secondhand bulker transaction activities still continues in the period and domestic secondhand bulker market is still quiet.
The hot type is still three-year 5,000 dwt bulker but the quoted prices are all very low. According to shipbroker from Ningbo, a 2009-blt 15,000 dwt bulker was traded at a value below $4.76m and the price for another 2005-blt 13,000 dwt bulker was only $3.18m. Besides, it is revealed that a ZC-classed 20,500 newbuild was on sale at $8.42m and even lower with one-time payment.
Secondhand bulkers have witness different declines in prices in the last half month. The prices for 10,000 dwt – 20,000 dwt decrease most, demonstrating the speed up of its elimination.
On the contrary, product tanker market has seen little rebounding. Shipbrokers have received some enquiries about newbuilt or secondhand 4,500 dwt tanker. However, most resources are under construction due to shipyards capital shortage. The quotations for the ship type are relatively low and some even less than $4 million.
Many buyers are looking around for 600dwt refueling vessel and 100dwt-300dwt waste oil treating ships for harbor services. As for the 3,000dwt tanker, demand and supply information is both plain.
The Ministry of Transport has stopped to approve tanker operation last year, which will surely put further stress on short-term tanker market but in long term benefit its development.
Overall, prices for tankers also see declines of different degrees, but the future is still full of uncertainty.
The performance of engineering ships in the period is also plain. A Zhejiang-built 3,200 CBM cutter suction dredger was transacted at a rumored price of $20.65m. Some owners enquire about 2,000dwt stainless steel chemical tanker but no adequate corresponding information available.
Steel price and scrapping rate in the same period both undergo mild drop.
