Hong Kong-based ocean carrier Orient Overseas Container Line has welcomed new containership OOCL ABU DHABI into its fleet. It is the eighth 24,188 TEU vessel to join the OOCL’s fleet. This vessel is 400 meters long and 61.3 meters wide, an ultra-large containership registered in Hong Kong. OOCL ABU DHABI is part of the six 24188 TEU new builds that OOCL has ordered from the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd shipyard in China.

Six 21,188 TEU vessels joined the OOCL fleet in 2023, OOCL Spain being the first that Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co delivered in February 2023. For OOCL, this is the second 24000+ TEU box ship delivery as the company welcomed OOCL Valencia in January 2024, taking yard delivery from Nantong COSCO KHI Shipyard.

Junguang Xiao, Director of OOCL, said that the continuous delivery of new vessels and more ships carrying the blossom logo of OOCL at sea marks the continued upgrade of OOCL’s fleet structure. He added that OOCL is committed to bringing its customers greener and better integrated end-to-end logistics services.
