Sneaky Seven for Yangzijiang
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has quietly racked up orders worth over $200m in the first few weeks of 2012.
Singapore-listed Yangzijiang tells investors its haul in the year to date stretches to seven dry-cargo vessels.
It has landed contracts for four 82,000-dwt bulkers, a couple of 92,000-dwt post-panamaxes and a single 47,500-dwt ship.
Delivery dates for the septet are widely spread between 2013 and 2015, the shipbuilder explains.
It does not offer any clues to unmask the owners behind the orders, worth an aggregate $206.2m, other than to stress there is no link to related companies.
This rules out its joint-venture with Peter-Dohle which marked the yard’s entry into the ownership arena earlier this year.
Clarksons counts 31 vessels on order at Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and a further 53 at its Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding facility.
None of the contracts listed were penned in 2012.
Yangzijiang clocked up orders for 21 effective vessels last year, worth a collective $1.21m.
