Japan's Delivery down 7%

Japanese shipbuilders customs-cleared export ship for 2011, about the same as newbuilding delivery, decreased to 356 vessels of 16.55m gt, down by 7% on 2010, in terms of gross tonnage.
Overall delivery in 2011 slightly declined from 2010, when delivery recorded ever largest. 
Meanwhile, the Japan Ship Exporter’s Association (JSEA) reported that export-ship orderbook stood at 840 vessels of 37.85m gt or 16.78m cgt, as of the end of December 2011, which was dropped by 172 vessels of 9.6m gt over a year. This would cover 2.3 years of schedule.
Newbuildings on the book to be delivered in financial year 2011 are 159 vessels of 7.41m gt, 344 vessels of 15.27m gt in 2012, 225 vessels of 10.19m gt in 2013, 102 vessels of 4.49m gt in 2014 and 10 vessels of 0.49m gt after 2015.
