Pakistan National Shipping Corp could become the latest shipowner to order LNG vessels, according to press reports in Islamabad. The national government has authorised renewal of the national carrier's fleet, which currently comprises a mixed range of 11 vessels, with one explicit aim being to improve the country's gas supply situation. A plan to order 14 new ships costing £560m has reportedly been drawn up, including at least one LNG carrier. The move follows the recent decision to grant LNG import licences by Pakistan's Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
