Middle East rig builder Lamprell has been awarded an order from Mexican player Pemsa for construction of an unfinished jack-up rig.
The Friede & Goldman-designed Super M2 unit, named Hull 108, was under construction by Maritime Industrial Services (MIS) at the time of the latter’s acquisition by UAE-based Lamprell in July this year.
The contract from Pemsa, a subsidiary of Grupo Mexico, will enable Lamprell to complete fabrication of the rig at its Sharjah yard, with delivery scheduled for 30 June 2012.
The rig, to be deployed in the Gulf of Mexico, is designed to operate in water depths of up to 300 feet, with a rated drilling depth of 30,000 feet.
