With the delivery this week of the 206,000 dwt Dan May capesize Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has set a new record among Chinese builders for annual deliveries.
The latest delivery takes the total ships handed over for the year to 36, equating to 8.148m dwt – the first time a Chinese yard has crossed the 8m dwt mark in a calendar year.
